Trey Laverty

Director of Sales Development

Aspirations and Goals as a Human Being:

To continuously inspire others as a servant leader and have fun doing it.

Your Experience, Education and Credentials:

Ever since I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors of Arts in Advertising, I have been trying to make the print marketing world better, one print piece at a time. Since graduating I have been lucky enough to work with awesome colleagues and fantastic clients to achieve multiple ADDY Awards. I have also had the opportunity to attend and graduate programs such as Dale Carnegie and Leadership Lubbock to continue growing as a business professional.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I love hunting, golfing and college football. When I can do any of those things with family or friends, it’s going to be a great time. Especially when I can pull a trifecta and do all 3 in one weekend.

Favorite quote:

“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” Walt Disney

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us:

I’m often referred to as Paw Paw, because I’m still trying to figure out this Snap Chat thing.

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you:

  • have diplopia (double vision) and had to wear prism glasses as a kid.
  • I’m a Preacher’s Kid.
  • My name is Richard Aaron Laverty, same as my daddy and his daddy before.

Three words to best describe you:

  • Imaginative
  • Caring
  • Ambitious

Anything else you want to share? (family, hobbies, whatever)

I love getting inspiration from all different places, whether it’s driving down the road, at a whole in the wall restaurant, or something from my kids happy meal.

What do you like most about Slate Group?

Slate Group is about creating relationships internally and externally. It is an absolute joy to walk through all areas of our facility knowing you will always be greeted with a smile and a fist-bump. 98% of the time that I give a tour of Slate Group, I receive the same reaction at the end. It’s not about all of the Awesome printing equipment we have or the Really Cool marketing collateral we created, yet it is that they noticed everyone is smiling and happy while they work.

What do you like most about your role at Slate Group?

I have a passion for creating and developing relationships with our customers all across the country and doing whatever it takes to make their marketing efforts a success. As Director of Sales Development I am able to work with an entire team of individuals that have a genuine desire to do the same exact thing. We are not and do not desire to be “sales reps” but to be extensions of our clients marketing teams to create greatness every day.

What drew you to Slate Group originally?

Anybody can print on paper, but Slate Group is constantly being innovative to push the envelope in the print marketing industry. I want to be apart of place that is continuously striving to challenge itself, it’s employees and it’s customers to be better everyday. That place is Slate Group.

What has been your favorite project at Slate Group?

I had the opportunity to conceptualize and produce a Christmas card for Southwest Airlines Cargo. With the help of our talented design team and our dedicated digital printing department, we created a piece unlike any other. Using a clear material and white ink, we were able to develop a clear 5×7″ fold over card that created the effect snow falling on a Southwest plane. Not only did we wow all of the recipients of the card, but we also won an ADDY Award.
