Tabbing Self-Mailers
Letter-size mail pieces that are not in an envelope must be sealed or tabbed to prevent an open edge from jamming processing equipment. Standards for tabbing folded self-mailers are based on the way it is folded.

Two Tabs (Folded Edge on Bottom)
- (2) 1″ Tabs
- Tabs must be places within one inch of the right and left at the top of the mail piece
- Mail Panel must be parallel to folded/stitched edge
Three Tabs (Stitched Books)
- (3) 1.5″ Tabs
- Tabs must be placed within one inch of the right and left at the top of the mail piece
- Trailing edge must be secured with one tab
- Mail Panel must be parallel to bottom edge
